Overview

The mosque, which was named Masjid Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, was built on the sincere donation of His Majesty the King of Perlis, namely AlMarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail. This mosque is one of the attractions in the city of Kangar in particular and was completed in the middle of 2005. Tuanku Puan Besar Budriah officially handed over the mosque to the Perlis State Government on September 15, 2005 for the use of the people in the qaryah and all the people of Perlis state. The opening ceremony of the mosque was completed by His Majesty the 12th Yang Dipertuan Agong, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail on November 8, 2005. The management and administration related to the Tuanku Syed Putra Mosque is under the jurisdiction of the State Secretary's Office, Department of Perlis State Islamic Religious Affairs and Perlis State Baitulmal. The Mosque Parish Committee was also created to strengthen the quality of mosque governance effectively, consisting of the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and also several Committee Members who were appointed after getting the approval of His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra as the Chairman of the Council of Islamic Religion and Custom Perlis Malay ceremony.
