The Sultan Yahya Petra Mosque is a Colonial Mosque that was built in 1968. The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the construction of this mosque was completed by YAB. Tun Abdul Razak bin Tun Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and Minister of Development and Rural Affairs on Sunday 26 Zulkaedah 1387H corresponding to 25 February 1968 AD.
The Sultan Yahya Petra Mosque was inaugurated by His Royal Highness Sultan Yahya Petra Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Ibrahim, on Thursday 22 Muharram 1389H corresponding to 10 April 1969 AD.
The management of the mosque is handled by the Mosque's Parent Committee chaired by YABrs. Lord Colony Chief. In addition to the Parent Committee, the same mosque also has a Sub-Committee on Immortization chaired by YBrs Islamic Affairs Officer who is also the Grand Imam of the Sultan Yahya Petra Mosque.
In an effort to improve mosque management to be more effective and efficient, MAIK always strives to empower mosque leadership by appointing management group officers in order to improve management skills and the quality of mosque development.
