This Pekan Bahau Jamek Mosque was built in 1979 and founded by the late Tuan Hj Abdul Kudus bin Hj Ahmad, Qadi Wilayah Jempol (A Scholar of the Past). The site of this mosque was donated by the Negeri Sembilan government at that time. This mosque was built to replace the Bahau Police Station Surau which was used for Friday prayers. This mosque was repaired and upgraded in 2008.

In 2017, the old mosque building (wooden building) was demolished to allow the construction of a new building as it is now. This new construction is under the allocation of the Federal government amounting to almost RM2 million.

The new Jamek Pekan Bahau Mosque building was officially handed over to the Islamic Religious Affairs Department of Negeri Sembilan (JHEAINS) by YAB Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan, Dato' Seri Aminuddin bin Harun at the beginning of 2020 in an official ceremony held at this mosque.
