Overview

"historical background of the mosque; Al Muttaqin Mosque, Taman Meru was first built in 1990 which is located at Jalan Bukit Meru, Taman Meru, 30200 Ipoh Perak Darul Ridzuan. This location covers a gazetted area of ​​186102/14260 square meters. The construction cost of this mosque is estimated at RM800,000.00 from federal, state and corporate and individual donations.

This mosque went through the initial construction phase with an initial allocation of RM500,000.00 from the federal government which was covered in the Utusan Malaysia newspaper on 15 March 1990. The site of the mosque was leveled by the appointed contractor Tuan Haji Nordin Ismail then the official direction of the Qibla was laid by Tuan Haji Mohamad Sulaiman who is the Kadi of Ipoh with the group of Ustaz Haji Osman Aeshad, Haji Mokhtar b. Basirun, Haji Mustapha Pandak Ismail and Ipoh land office staff on 25 July 1991.

The Zuhur call to prayer sounded on February 14, 1993 and the first Zuhur prayer was performed in congregation at Al Muttaqin Mosque and the first Friday prayer was on February 19, 1993 led by Ustaz Haji Zulkarnain Ibrahim and followed by the first dawn lecture by Ustaz Amir Haji Abdul Rahman on February 21 1993. Next, the Kinta Works Department officially handed over the keys to the Al Muttaqin Mosque to Dato' Abdul Latif.

The official opening of this mosque was completed by His Royal Highness Dr. Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibudin Shah, at that time as Raja Muda of the State of Perak Darul Ridzuan on the historic date of October 30, 2003."
